How to Find Peng in Chen Taijiquan - Fri, Jul 29: 7:00pm - 8:20pm
Often considered the most important energy principle of Taijiquan, ‘Peng Jin’ or ‘Peng Energy’ can also be one of the most difficult concepts for a student to understand, let alone practice. It is so much more than just “Ward-Off”. In fact, Peng Jin is so important that it is said the art of Taijiquan could just as easily be called ‘Peng Quan’ or ‘Peng Energy Boxing’. Peng Energy should be present in every part of the body, throughout every movement and in every Taijiquan form. With a clear understanding of Peng Jin, you can begin training to turn this understanding into the most essential skill of Chen Taijiquan. But how do you find ‘Peng? How do you recognize it within yourself or others? In this workshop, Chen Huixian will discuss the concept of Peng, why it is so important to Chen style Taijiquan, and help you learn how to identify Peng and maintain it in your own training.
Fajin: Understanding Explosive Power of Chen Taijiquan - Fri, Jul 29: 8:30pm - 9:50pm
The term Fajin refers to the ability to issue power or energy from within the body and channel it to an external point. In Chen style Taijiquan, Fajin is typically recognized as fast, “explosive power” used in various martial techniques. Throwing Fajin with a punch or elbow strike comes first, but at higher levels of skill, powerful strikes can be thrown with the shoulder, hips, and even the chest. In order to train this skill, you have to follow the rules and training principles of Taijiquan. In this workshop, Chen Huixian will help you to understand the requirements and principles of Chen Taijiquan that lead to developing the characteristically explosive and powerful Fajin of Chen style.

Anyone who enters the Tru 2 Form category is a true patriot of Chinese Martial Arts (CMA). This division is not about who is the best, it's about maintaining and further developing the spirit of CMA.
Please understand this... we need to take baby steps with this idea to make it a success. It is important that we all understand that this is for the development of CMA and not individual gain. The champion or winner of this division will be an example to follow. It's about the future and what it can mean to all of us. We, together have to restore the true meaning of CMA, which is SKILL!
If you are an individual that thinks the power of your punch and kick is the key to winning such a division, you are wrong. It's all about the strategy in which you are using. Chess vs Checkers is the key to success. Your ability to defeat an opponent without injury is the key to success in this division. We need to develop the individual systems by leaving room for failure and allowing all of us to develop our individual skills in a safe environment.
Tru 2 Form in its right form will be an event to look forward to. Imagine seeing all these systems come to life right before your eyes. It's a process! It's going to take time. It's going to take patience. This is the way to reach skill, through perfect practice.
Patriots and enthusiasts, let's come together and make the future of CMA bright for generations to come. We can let another decade pass or we can create the future of a better one. Where there's unity there's strength. Small steps lead to big leaps. SKILL, SKILL, SKILL! We are a brotherhood. This is not about domination. It's about the true spirit of martial arts. Unity.
